Brushes and bubbles - an evening of creativity and connection

a colorful abstract art painting

It’s time to step away from the screen and unleash your creativity! Let’s explore our emotions and feelings through abstract expression. This journey allows us to delve into our inner selves, transforming our thoughts and feelings into vivid, imaginative forms. Embrace the freedom of creativity!

What is abstract art?

Abstract art is a genre that emphasises colour, shape and form over realistic representation. It seeks to convey emotions, ideas or concepts without depicting objects or scenes from the real world. If you are a fan of abstract art, you are probably familiar with Wassily Kandinsky. The pioneering Russian artist is often considered the father of abstract art. His works, characterised by vivid colours and geometric shapes, sought to express inner feelings through abstraction.

How can we convey our emotions on the canvas?

Abstract art can be a challenging concept for us. To help clarify this intriguing form of expression, I’ve crafted a brief introduction that explains what abstract art is and how we can translate our emotions into shapes. This style of art emphasises colours, shapes, and forms rather than traditional representation, allowing us to convey emotions and ideas in unique ways. By understanding abstract art, we can unlock new ways for expressing our feelings, as it invites personal interpretation and emotional connection.

Let’s draw and share!

It was a really fun and creative evening that we shared together, our hands were busy creating, and it felt great to use them with brushes and colours, to break away from the keyboard! After we finished our paintings, we gathered to share the story behind our artwork. It was fascinating to hear everyone share their thoughts and the emotions they were trying to express. Each piece told a unique story and it was wonderful to see how abstract art allowed us all to connect on a deeper level.
